'Derby Cathedral connections'

DERBYSHIRE OPEN Trophy Winner 2011, trophy and cash prize winner for work entered for any medium. The work Cathedral connections will now be included in the permanent art collection held at Buxton Museum and Art Gallery.

Inspired by Ceri Richard's Derby Cathedral windows -also reflecting the ironwork of Derbyshire's Robert Bakewell . The design is also meant to evoke the wooded landscapes of Derbyshire.

An original fine art print is an image conceived and created by means of traditional production of a hand made plate that is inked by hand and 'pulled' on an etching press. This is as opposed to the definition of a 'print' that is a photographic reproduction of an original work of art in any media.

Each inking up and 'pull' makes a unique transfer of the image from the plate - for a limited edition all are alike enough to be called an edition but different enough to be unique.
